Base damage, not Total Power
The most important boss rule is that fights run on a base-damage system. Your Total Power — the big number that gates Dimensions and sets your Class — does not determine the damage you deal to a boss. What matters is the base damage of your abilities and how well your scaling stat boosts them. This is why a player with huge Total Power but a weak ability can deal less to a boss than a focused, lower-TP build.
The practical takeaway: build damage abilities and train the stat they scale from (usually Chakra), rather than chasing a vanity TP number.
Percentage damage taken
Boss skills deal a percentage of your maximum HP, not a flat amount. That means stacking Durability or raw HP does not make you noticeably tankier against bosses — a big health pool just means a bigger chunk gets removed. Survival comes from dodging, blocking heavy attacks (which reduces damage and prevents knockback), and using movement abilities to reposition. Keep a teleport or dash bound at all times.
HP scaling with players
A boss’s HP scales with the number of players in the fight. More players means a much longer fight, which is why qualifying for drops matters: you cannot just tag a high-player boss and expect a reward. Teaming up clears tankier bosses faster, but every participant still has to pull their weight on damage.
Qualifying for drops
Drops are gated by the most-damage leaderboard. To earn a Power, Yen and Chikara, you must deal enough damage to qualify. If you contribute too little, you walk away empty-handed even if the boss dies. This ties directly back to the base-damage rule: bring a real damage ability and the stat to scale it.
The tier system and drop rates
Many bosses use a tier structure:
- Win: advance to the next tier.
- Time out: your tier stays the same.
- Lose: drop down a tier.
Higher tiers give better rewards, and the top tier has a significantly increased drop rate. The optimal farming pattern is to start low to learn the boss’s timing safely, climb as your damage allows, and then repeatedly clear the top tier where drops are richest. Boosts can further increase reward amounts.
Putting it together
Combine these rules into a simple plan: equip a high base-damage, Chakra-scaling Fruit or Special, summon a strong Champion, train the matching stat, dodge percentage attacks, and farm the highest tier you can clear. For boss-by-boss tactics, see how to beat bosses and the all bosses roster.
